Hello, I am wondering if anyone here is studying in Korea or know anything about studying in Korea, because I would like to study there but I will need to learn the Korean language to apply for college/university there. I am planning on taking the Korean language program in Seoul National University in Korea to improve myself in Korean, but after studying, will I get any certs or something so I could use it to apply for college/university there? Or must I take TOPIK?

And can overseas students like myself take TOPIK in Korea? I tried googling but I couldn't find any information. I tried googling but I couldn't find any information. I'm preparing for TOPIK exams now. Univesities in Korea usually accept TOPIK results for level 4. You'll have to take Level 1 + 2 (Beginner level). When you passed it, you'll proceed to Level 3+4 ( Intermediate Level). There's a few Korean language centre's preparing student for TOPIK exam. I'm taking korean language courses at Korean Language House - TOPIK exam is equivalent to IELTS.

But it is a KOREAN version. You will receive certs if you take TOPIK.

I'm not sure about taking in SNU how, but I do know that if you go through JPA, you'll be spending a year & most probably in SNU for Korean language courses. However, if you are asking about the programme you mentioned in your other previous thread, it is an entire different approach already. You may get a certificate, depending on the authority. Check the official website of the programme for details, or email them for further details.

About taking TOPIK, yes, you will need to take TOPIK for regular admission in colleges there as a proficiency test. There is a substitute test but TOPIK is preferable by many students. And yes, you can take TOPIK in Korea as well.

Some universities offer them as testing centres as how they are offered here or anywhere else. I'm preparing for TOPIK exams now. Univesities in Korea usually accept TOPIK results for level 4.

I'll have to take the TOPIK? Im sorry, this is out of the question but official transcript means SPM Results right? Will they need my yearly grades (eg: secondary 3 or 4 etc.) And the deadline for application is on April 1st, isit okay for me to send in my application around the end of march? Maybe around March 27th, since I'm getting my spm results around The end of march. I'm afraid they wouldn't have enough of time to review it or something. Thank you very much!

Since that programme provides leveling, it may be possible to use it as a proficiency evidence.

However, I wouldn't count on it much, since college admissions require test results, not just the studying. Rather, you are advised to take TOPIK, with or without that particular certificate, since minimum academic prerequisite for admissions usually includes TOPIK or equivalent tests as well. Official transcripts in Korea usually meant your yearly grades and semester scores. Only in UK, Commonwealth of Nations and similar nations employing the O-Level and A-Level model require just test scores.

It is advisable as it'd be easier for you to meet the test dates or to retake in case you fail to meet the grade. It could be easier as well, as the evaluation standards are always flawed when it comes to Malaysia.

Thank you so much for your reply! Okay, if im really taking the Korean language program in Korea, I'll be taking TOPIK hmm if they need yearly grades, based on your opinion, do you think I should send in from sec 1 to 5 or maybe just sec 4 & 5 plus my spm results?

About the spm results, I'm constantly worrying about the deadline. Since I'll have to wait for my spm results, I will be sending in my application quite late, maybe a few days before the deadline (April 1st), what do you think? Will it be okay? I'm afraid they won't accept because I'm sending it quite late and they won't have enough time or something.

JPA is Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (Public Service Department).

JPA offers scholarships to Korea but only for Engineering if i'm not mistaken You have approximately a year studying korean & foundation. I'm an SPM leaver too! XD Waiting for results.

Monopoly world edition full version. TOPIK is having their test on April. You can't enter for it anymore. And I am anticipating for September intake test.^^ It depends on you really I started my Korean class last week and I can start doing TOPIK Level 1 past year questions next week. I have some basics few years back. If you start from zero knowledge in korean.it will be wayyyy longer. My misstake, there is only degree based on Korean Language in Undergraduate School, SNU.

No English Language Course, and International Studies (English Language Course) only for Graduate School, SNU Okay let see. Then, Seoul National University 2013 fall admission for FOREIGNER 2014 spring admission for FOREIGNER You are required to submit documents as mentioned below, 1. Application document (printing) 2.

Malaysian STPM & UEC MAY BE eligible for. In the case of, you do better contact with SNU ASAP) 10. There will be Korean Language Test before enrollment in SNU (I surely guess who fail the exam will be taken Korean Language Bridging Course in SNU) It looks just like an English Bridging Course in Australia or British Universities. I hope it helps //For clubbing and drinking, //Yonsei, Korea, Kon-kuk & Hong-ik are perfectly fitting into (best place for) //Near place SNU is so boring, I bet you will get bored.

So if you apply using your SPM results, most likely it'll be turned down Exception for those JPA students, bcos the two governments have an agreement of some sort.

Even so, the students will overgo a strict schedule in malaysia (two years i think) in which only some of them will pass you will need to have a bank acct with at least USD 3k in them when applying for any universities application form is KRW 50k (around 150) for SNU Language Research Institute, the cost for every lvl will be roughly around RM3k - 4k (which is why people prefer to learn korean in malaysia first) if you go to university, the tuition fee (alone) for every semester will be more than RM9k This post has been edited by ashcrimson: Mar 7 2013, 02:27 PM.
