Perhaps someone would be kind enough to recommend an add-on package they'd like to see supported that I could use for development and testing? Jerry B., Would you consider? They are all Trialware and can be downloaded for usage and testing free of charge. They are also full of realistic scenic features which will be a good test bed for your own tests (AI/FPS/AFCADs, etc.).

Thank you for your consideration. The program (now at version 3.1) has been tested with custom afcads and works with what it's been tested against; however, I can't guarantee it will work with all custom afcads, particularly those that may have been ported from previous versions of FS. The program works with custom afcads by scanning all BGL files in the Addon Scenery/scenery folder for runways and parking spots and saving what it finds in a database file. It will do this at the click of a button whenever you want the database updated.

You then have the option of using or not using this database - also at the click of a button. It handles addon scenery packages in a similar fashion with the same button clicks, but in this case, the Addon Scenery subfolders are searched for BGL files. I'm sure you won't hesitate to post back if you have issues or suggestions.

Thank you for this info; Where might I get the v3.1?

I live in NZ, where the default MSFS scenery is atrocious, so I've invested a heap of money on add-on scenery. 1) AirtrafficFX aircraft insist on using the default MS AFCADs - so use the wrong runways and fly into hills. I have.freeware. AI traffic (WOAI) that uses all my add-on scenery and manages to avoid mountians. If a freeware app can do this, why can't a commercial add-on??? 2) Any attempt at updating the database crashes the app, with a pretty unfriendly message - and no explanation.

Most major airports in NZ are covered by my commercial add-ons, so most AirtrafficFX is therefore useless to me. 3) Can scenery AFCAD/BGL entries be added to the ini files manually? AirtrafficFX local air traffic will use the default MS runways if it can't process the installed addon scenery files to update its database. The problem is basically that AirTrafficFX was designed (sucessfully) to process the MS default scenery files; however, not all addons follow the standards of the MS default scenery. I would be more than happy to update the program to resolve these problems if you can help me identify which addon scenery package crashes the app. Can you list the addon packages you have installed? I have been working to improve the program's tolerance to unexpected file formats.

Version 3.2 has been designed to be more defensive when updating the runway database and will hopefully provide more diagnostic information when it can't process a scenery file. The new version should be up any time now, but if you're willing to work with me to resolve these problems, contact me via PM and I'll get the update to you immediately. OK - I've.de-activated. ALL my add-on scenery and I still get the error. I really don't want to go through the process of actually removing them. Does AirTrafficFX read the scenery.cfg file?

This is FSX/SP2/Acceleration, BTW - running on 32-bit Vista with UAC turned off - and is generally quite stable. EDIT: I tried moving all the data files out of the AirTrafficFX directory to see what happens.

It simply re-creates them with some pre-filled data (incl. Scenery I don't have).

Could this be a problem?? AirTrafficFX scans the 'Addon Scenery' folder and all 'Addon Scenery' sub-folders for BGL files containing airport data. It doesn't read the scenery.cfg file.

I don't want to ask you to change your scenery configuration. I'd prefer to allow AirTrafficFX to identify the files it's having problems with, which will alow me to purchase or download those files and work out the solution. The new version of AirTrafficFX (3.2) has been wrapped and should be available for download now. This version creates two log files when it scans for addon airport data: afcad.txt and addrwy.txt. Version 3.1 also created log files, but they aren't saved if AirTrafficFX crashes. The new version is more resistant to crashing and also saves the log files while scanning is in progress, so I expect more diagnostic info from the new version.

I would really appreciate it if you could download and install the new version, run it to update its addon scenery database, and let me know if it crashes or not. In either case, it would also help if you could send me the two log files afcad.txt and addrwy.txt. After taking this screen shot on my system, I noticed a significant difference with yours. At the top of the AirTrafficFX radar display on my system it says: TNCM 09 - that's the ICAO airport name and the runway number. In your screen shot, the AirTrafficFX radar display says: TNCM 10 - and although it does agree with your screen shot of the AirTrafficFX runway data log, it doesn't agree with what I have in my log file: E: FSX Addon Scenery FlyTampa-Maarten Scenery AFXTNCM.bgl Airport: TNCM 18.039970 -63.111591 0.000000 Delete Airport: TNCM Name: Princess Juliana Intl TNCM - Runway: Pri=09 Sec=68 -63.109122 0.0.990215 150.918180 999.996997 TNCM - Runway Start: 14 -63.119237 0.000002 TNCM - Runway Start: 60 -63.099369 0.000000 261.399994.
