So I bit the bullet and snagged a copy the other day. This is my first MHF experience, and right now I can tell I really suck at it. I went through the training school missions, and then took the first real mission, which was to kill a Giadrome. What followed was 40 or so minutes of me getting my ass handed to me until finally pulling out a victory. I was using sword and shield and it just felt like I wasn't doing any damage. Plus the bastard kept running away.

How do you get quest editor, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Questions and answers, PSP. No third-party game signifies the success – or lack thereof – of a handheld in Japan than Monster Hunter. The series has sold millions upon millions of copies on PlayStation Portable in Japan.

Any tips for a total newbie? Well, for starters, you've tried the various weapon types, yes? You'll want to learn the giadrome's attack patterns, then figure out the timing to avoid an attack, go in for a couple of quick hits, roll/block his counterattack, then hit him again, etc etc. It won't pay to just stand there swinging your sword; button mashing doesn't work in this game. See which moves take awhile for him to recover from, so that you'll know when to heal/sharpen without getting pounced on.

If you're having problems with the other monsters in the room, try clearing some of them out when the giadrome isn't around. That should keep getting double-teamed to a minimum. If you're having problems finding/tracking gia, either bring paintballs and keep him painted, or an armor set with autotracker (I believe the hunter's set has this, and requires mostly just iron ores and bullfango pelts, things that are obtainable early on). And definitely see if you can upgrade your weapon.

The first upgrades usually need things you can easily get from the Pokke Farm or the gathering quests, and will be much better than the weapons you start with. Sword and shield may seem relatively weak compared to the larger, slower weapons, but you can make up for that by getting in several hits per attack run. More important: What Sword and Shield did you use? Did you upgrade at all? If you have an Assassin's Blade by now (which is pretty easy to get with a bit of farming) killing a Giadrome doesn't take a lot of hits. I was just using whatever sword/shield was given to me at the start of the game. I didn't know I'd be able to upgrade yet.

Furthermore, I wasn't sure if it's better to upgrade armor/weapons at all early on or save the materials for newer stuff. Oh, and does it make sense to actually buy any equipment from the shop? Or does the better equipment always coming from farming and making your own? More important: What Sword and Shield did you use? Did you upgrade at all? Oh, and does it make sense to actually buy any equipment from the shop? Or does the better equipment always coming from farming and making your own? The inventory the shop cat has is pretty much what he'll have throughout the game; basically it's only a handful of armors and weapons he sells.

Only real reason to buy from him at the start is if you don't have the parts to make it, but have the money to just outright buy. So yes, it's ultimately going to be about farming for parts and using those to make better gear. As for what to do from the start, it certainly won't hurt to upgrade your weapon(s), as the basic weapons you can either buy or make in the beginning are ultimately the starting point for alot of weapons in the game. Your basic Bone Kris, for example, branches out significantly from its humble beginnings, and could become one of twenty or so weapons in its final evolution. In that sense, upgrading weapons is almost never a waste, since it'll almost always give you the opportunity to make it into something grand. Armors are a slightly different story, since they don't upgrade. Most you can do is improve their base defense via money and armor spheres, but unlike weapons, you can't just add extra parts to turn it into something else.

That said, the starting armor is crap, and at the very least, you should make something with better defense and armor skills so that you can actually survive and hunt effectively. I would not recommend making every armor set you can from the start, but certainly having something a little beefier will at least give you a fighting chance against. Then, once you've gotten one type of monster down, and his equipment is better than what you have, you can then make that armor, so you can fight the next one, and so on. I'm having fun though with the low level quests, maybe I'll just keep playing my new guy.

You've a wealth of content still to explore in MHF2, so I'd say wait till the price drops before getting Unite, then transferring your character over. The controls are no different, however the town inventory interface appears to have been vastly improved judging by the comments here, so if you really care about that then you could get the game. I think someone here (Elderlycrawfish?) said the monsters themselves have been made easier in terms of new telegraphic movements so that you can spot what attack they will do next, so the fights may be a little less stressful as well. If you do wish to play multi, however rare the occasion, then everyone playing online will most likely be on Unite at this point. I think someone here (Elderlycrawfish?) said the monsters themselves have been made easier in terms of new telegraphic movements so that you can spot what attack they will do next, so the fights may be a little less stressful as well. There are a couple of new animations, but there are also several new attacks as well.

I think Icy was talking about in comparison to MH2 (which doesn't have many of the MHF2 and MHFU animations), rather than MHF2. It's pretty much the same game, but with more 'stuff'. The G-rank quests have additional attacks on some of the old monsters. Again, main reason to get it is the Data Install. That streamlines the experience immensely.

It's so much more a streamlined experience single-player than MHF2. All of the new inventory features are SO much worth it, and the data install will reduce your load times to a handful of seconds rather than 30 or more.

This is the best advice. Just the way that inventory management is handled, especially since you can now send quest rewards straight to box as well (I always had trouble w/ that when I was running a full inventory, figuring out what to throw away to keep the good loot). Significant monster/equipment changes are truly negligible unless you were already at your peak in MHF2 (and find stuff like fatalis and akantor gear nerfed), and I honestly think Unite is the way to go for any player, new or old. And jaziek, I feel your pain. I often comment on how the game must know you're looking for stuff and intentionally shafts you, as we're always finding ourselves short of just 1 or 2 things.

I'm still feeling it for alot of things, but there's so much to stuff to upgrade and create, I'm spread pretty thin and it doesn't bother me nearly as much as when I'm solely intent on creating one particular thing. I just do something else for awhile, then go back when I'm bored of that. I've also had some pleasantly unexpected luck, managing to get just the right amount of mats for a full Naruga X set without having to seriously farm him.

That damned missions with 2 narugas was almost the death of me though. Now that I've converted over my MHP2ndG save, I'm lovin' the English translations for the things that weren't translated in the fan patch. However, several Japan-only items (like the Crab Swords, Pirate items, Diablos bow, etc.) show up as 'dummy' in my inventory (they still work fine, they just don't have a name). Also, all of the skill names have been tweaked, so I'm having to relearn what the heck they all mean again.

For example, the Eagle Eye skill is now 'Tranquilizing Guru', with Perceive jewels to gem it up in the armor. AntiDaora skill on the Chameleos G-rank armor produces 'Frosty Protection', instead of 'Chameleos Ward'. They all do the same thing as before, just the labels have been changed. Same with the Felyne Fighter skills.

My piggie still has the Pokke Village outfit, but there's no option in the Piggie Fashion to select it. Which means it still exists in the game, but there's no label for it (probably future DLC?). You mean Japan gets exclusive items? Anything that was available only from Download quests.

This is the list that I know of:. Diablos Bow. Dragon Gunlance Emblem. Famitsu Longsword. Famitsu Dual Blades. Famitsu T-shirt. Famitsu Leggings.

Monster Hunter World Quest Editor

Greatsword from 'Monster Hunter Orage'. Hunter T-Shirt and Hunter T-Shirt X. Hunter Soul T-shirt and Hunter Soul T-shirt X.

Jolly Roger Armor. Lobster weapons (Hammer, Longsword, and Dual Blades are the ones I have. Really high Water damage). Pirate J Longsword (Looks like a Pirate Saber).

Pirate J Heavy Bowgun (Looks like a cannon). Polytan Hammers. Puppet Dual Blades. Puppet Sword and Shield. Red Lobster Armor Not sure about any others. Most of them are gag weapons/armor, but the Lobster Weapons are REALLY useful (highest Water damage in their respective weapon types, which is great for Volganos and Gravios).

The Diablos Bow is fairly decent as well, although there are other good Fire Bows. This is similar to what happened with Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Several items were Japan-only, marked as 'dummy' if you managed to acquire them somehow. You can play on Ad-Hoc Party with MHP2ndG players, apparently, as Ad-Hoc Party is able to bridge the version gap somehow, and get the tickets for these items (which also show up as 'dummy'), then build them at the Smith. There were several download quests that i guess were sponsored by various Japanese gaming magazines.

Shonen Jump, Dengeki, etc. The reward tickets you would get from completing those would be named similarly. Since there's the inevitable copyright issues when moving out of Japan, those tickets and the items you could make with them were 'omitted'; not taken out of the game, just not given official names.

Hence, things turn to name 'dummy'. Jolly Roger armor? Now it's all dummy armor. Stats are same, just the name is gone.

While the objects are still in-game, acquiring them requires some trickery. One way would be to play online with someone with 2ndG, and do the download quests that way. Or figuring out how to find and download the japanese-only quests would be another. Edit: beaten to the punch! But anyway, yeah, there they are. Oh, and the Hunter T-Shirt has not been dummied, as it was attainable in Freedom 2 in the Download Kushala Daora quest.
